Ski in Kitzbühel

High mountains, Hahnenkamm and high society

All around the world people know of Kitzbühel in Tyrol as a holiday destination, and rightly so. The success of the town is due to its perfect location, dream skiing area in a fascinating mountain world and its easy accessibility. Prominent guests and the international reputation of the Hahnenkamm summit also play a part.

The layer of grass that goes up to a 2,000 meter height guarantees the success of winter sports from December to April, even when there is not much snow. The mountain between the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Hahnenkamm is guaranteed to be snowy thanks to its naturally high snow levels and modern snowmaking systems.

Long kilometres of descents, world-famous slopes, ski tours for beginners and pros, snowparks and natural toboggan runs will get your winter heart beating faster. Over 50 cableways and lift systems allow visitors to reach the slopes very comfortably. Those who prefer thing more laid-back can use the hundreds of kilometres of cross-country skiing trails and winter hiking trails.

One could say that skiing was “invented” in Kitzbühel. Since 1895, regular ski races take place there. The Hahnenkamm race, the most internationally acclaimed World Cup race, is organised on the Streif slope. The town of Kitzbühel attracts celebrities, gourmets and lovers of incomparable après-ski events, but one can also enjoy this unique ski area without all of that high society glitter.
