Chives on all the peaks

Rosskofel (horse peak), Trogkofel (trough peak), Schnittlauchkofel (chive peak) and Zuckerhütl (sugar hut): the names of mountains in the Nassfeld ski area were taken from the everyday life of the ancestors of Tyrolean people. Whether chives really grow on the Kofel (peak in Bavarian) is up to mountaineers to find out.

Nassfeld, located in the Carinthian Gail Valley in the Carnic Alps next to Hermagor, has a lot of highlights to offer. It is also considered to be one of the prettiest areas in Austria, and one of the best-known. The 110 kilometres of slopes, at 610 to 2,020 metres of altitude, sometimes lie over the tree line. That’s why Nassfeld is so attractive to young, old, pros and beginners alike. The valley station Tröpolach of the Millennium Express is sometimes quite crowded, but those patient enough to reach the next level are rewarded with a wonderful spacious ski area with no further waiting times at the lifts.

Snowboarders and fans of tricks will get their money’s worth with the great snow park and a half pipe that is definitely one of the best in Austria.
