Ski in Zell am See

Family-friendly and snow guarantee

The Kitzsteinhorn is definitely the star of Zell am See. From a height of 3,203 meters, it looms over the infinite mountain world between its smaller “brothers” Maiskogel and Schmittenhöhe. Thanks to its glacier, the skiing area is especially blessed with snow, and for this reason it opens as early as the beginning of October.

When the weather permits, it is possible to ski there for up to ten months a year. The Kitzsteinhorn is additionally the meeting point for all freeriders in the skiing area of Zell am See-Kaprun: five freeride routes near the lifts with a total length of 20 kilometres are available. Besides, Kitzsteinhorn has a snow park and the Ice Camp, three large igloos with ice sculptures, an ice bar and ice lounges.

These are the highlights in the skiing area of Zell am See-Kaprun:

  • An impressive panorama at a height of 3000 metres
  • Challenging skiing area with long slopes
  • Family-friendly slopes on the Maiskogel
  • Free ski bus between the skiing areas

Lake Zell, often frozen over in midwinter, lies in the valley in all its splendour. Those who are not yet worn out from skiing can go ice skating on the lake or go on a skiing or snowshoe tour on the Ronachkopf.
